MAC - Bleu Velvet

Yay for 3 day weekends! Today's notd is from a recent MAC collection and whilst MAC polishes have become absurdly overpriced, for some reason I just couldn't pass up this colour. It did take 3 coats to get perfectly opaque and smooth, but I really enjoyed the colour anyway. I also apologise if you enlarge these photos, I couldn't be bothered finishing clean up ;)

I'm also STILL working on my swatch sticks so I can't compare this to any other shades just yet, but I'm getting there! It should be done this month sometime :)

3 coats, 1 coat Dior gel coat.

I'm also trying to get through more of my untrieds this month, so hopefully that'll mean more regular posts from me!

May Nail Polish Haul

After suffering through tonsillitis for the first time this last week, I am finally back with a monthly haul. I was supposed to have more photos this month, but long story short I lost them somehow :( Anyway, this month I binged in nail polish more then I should have, and by the end of the month I was feeling quite terrible/guilty over how many polishes I owned. A few days later I was back to admiring all the pretty colours, but don't you hate it when you feel guilty about something you love?

Nail Polish Collection: High End Misc. [January 2013]

Chanel is one of my favourite brands. Quartz is my favourite nail polish of all time (I know, huge right!) and both Paradoxal and Lilac Sky make my top 10. Coconutty by Leighton Denny also makes it into my top 10, and some of the Butters are getting close! I didn't realise until typing out this post but you can see my fingers in all of the bottle caps!

NOTE: I have to mention that I took all my photos in a crudely made lightbox. Well, I don't think you could call it a lightbox...it's two planks of white painted wood and a lamp with a daylight globe! So whilst I tried to get these as colour accurate as I could, some colours may be just a tad off. I'll try to let you know when that happens, otherwise just google image the colour you were looking at. Also, I took these photos freehand so I'm sorry that some are a little crooked..I hope it doesn't bother you as much as it bothered me!

MAC - Everything That Glitters

As soon as I saw swatches of this shade online, I just knew I had to pick it up. It sold out SO quickly online though, so I pestered my local MAC counter every day until they got the collection, and still I managed to pick up the last one left. Sorry if this is sold out where you're from, because you really missed out on a gem! Isn't it just so pretty?! This was 2 coats, no top coat. It was very slightly gritty but I actually liked the rougher feel, though if it bothers you just pop on a top coat. All photos taken in cloudy sunlight.

MAC - Peachstock

I purchased this colour because I remembered seeing this on Temptalia and thinking it looked alright, and a colour I didn't have anything similar to. Now I know why. This looked so hideous that as soon as I snapped some photos of it, I took it off and it will now reside in the back of my polish draw. It's a peachy/beige and in my opinion, I think only dark skinned ladies will be able to pull this colour off.

MAC - Saint Germain

This is a very basic pink, and most brands will have a very similar colour in their collection. However, I don't mind. These kinds of pink colours, for me at least, are just so nice to look at. They're bright without being fuchsia. They are creamy without being too milky. I could go on, but instead I'm just going to stare at my nails some more ;)

2 coats, no top coat.

MAC - Angel

Angel is one of the most talked about MAC products on the market, so I took the plunge and ordered both the nail polish and the lipstick online. Whilst the lipstick is only borderline wearable for me, I really enjoyed this muted, neutral pink (the lipstick is much lighter). For a polish that costs more than salon brands such as OPI and Essie at AU$22 a bottle, I really wish I wouldn't keep falling into the MAC trap, no matter how nice (though surely dupable) the colours are.

This is 3 coats, no top coat. All photos taken in direct sunlight.

MAC - Midsummer's Dream

This seems like it would be extremely dupable, and it could be, but I can't dupe it from my collection. All my essie pale pinks are either not dusty enough or too purple toned. It applied almost opaquely in 2 coats, but I applied a 3rd to be sure. Its just one of those nice elegant kind of colours, but if you missed out on this from the Vera collection, I wouldn't really recommend wasting time searching for it.

MAC - Play Day

Firstly, I want to apologise for the lack of posts lately. I've been having issues with the sun, or lack thereof. Secondly, I pretty much love this colour. When I first applied it, my base coat was slightly chipped so it went on so weirdly. Once I figured out the reason why, I reapplied and it went on easily. This is 3 coats with a coat of Essie's Good to Go topcoat.

MAC - Toco Toucan

Yay, finally all caught up! This one is so lovely. 1 coat and no top coat. MAC really stepped up their game with these formulas, even if the colours are generic.

MAC - Oriele Orange

Once again, MAC has made a polish I love (though I do agree with everyone about the price tag). This was 1 coat, no top coat.

MAC - Salad Dressed

This is green enough that I expect I'll get a lot of use out of this colour. A lot of people seem to complain about MAC nail polish, but I haven't had a single problem with any of the ones I own (though maybe thats thanks to the nail blogs I read). This is an amazing teal that applied smoothly and opaquely in 2 coats, and it is a perfect polish for sunny days.

MAC - Endless Night

Happy Australia Day to all my fellow Aussies!  I don't own many MAC polishes and I've heard they're pretty hit-or-miss, but for me, this colour is a hit :) I really like how the pink shimmer, whilst not really noticeable, really warms up the base colour. 2 coats.
